Laurent Maur (Chromatic harmonica) was born in Paris in 1970, he began playing music at 17 in various blues and rock groups. Peter Kingsbery(ex Cock Robin), Mighty Sam Mac Laine, Adrian Burns, Sittin Blues. At 22, he's discovered jazz music and has chosed to follow this unexplored path. In 1994, he was student at paris' C.I.M. At This time , he was playing in several groups in Paris and Bordeaux. CBB47 (big band jazz), Jacob de la Fuente (latin jazz octet), Pierrot et les mal lunés (java rock), Jazz à Padam (swing musette) With Toots Thielemans' encouragements and Do Harson's incitement, he decided to produce the album "Mano a Mano" featuring Francis Lockwood's trio, Jean Marc Pierna (percussionnist), and a string quartet. He has recorded it in december 2001at the "studio Lubans", in the mean time he won the Trossingen International Harmonica Competition in German "Mayo Hubert belongs to the young gypsy-generation from eastern France and represents continuity: following in the traces of Samson Schmitt and Yorgui Loefler, Mayo's playing incarnates the typically svelte, lively swing of the region, which combines a vigorous attack with phrasing that is light and clear-cut. Mayo's music is undeniably reminiscent of that of Tchavolo Schmitt, who was his teacher (Mayo also accompanied him for seven years!) Fronting a dream rhythm- section - Francko Mehrstein and Gino Roman - Mayo stands out from the hordes of Django disciples by his choice of Laurent Maur as his sideman, playing a chromatic harmonica never heard in this style before . This unusual line-up gives Mayo Hubert the opportunity to show not only his virtuoso technique but also the sureness of his melodic inspiration, with eleven original compositions which reach a resounding climax in the form of a little-known Django Reinhardt title on which he duets with his 13 year-old son." In 2003/2004, he was student at the Didier Lockwood's jazz school, where he met Orlando Poleo (percussions, Venezuela) who hire him in his "afro venezue latin jazz quintet". 2011 is also the beginning of a new era for laurent,he goes to beijing (china) and he's welcome by both Chinese audience and local musicians,so he decides to "hang around" for a while in China ,playing 4 days a week and developping his personal music ,compositions, arrangement, and working on new repertoires ...from Duet to symphonic Orchestras...
